Webinar: Advances in Dementia Research Exploring Novel Drug Treatments for Agitation in Alzheimer’s Disease Agitation is common in dementia disorders and can be extremely distressing for people living with dementia and their caregivers/care partners. In this webinar, Dr. Krista L. Lanctôt will provide an overview of two ongoing clinical trials evaluating new drug treatments for agitation in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). You will have an opportunity to ask questions.
About the presenter:
Dr. Krista L. Lanctôt has a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Toronto. She holds the Bernick Chair in Geriatric Psychopharmacology. At Sunnybrook, she is a Senior Scientist in Geriatric Psychiatry and in the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute, the Research Co-Director of Psychiatry and the Head of Neuropsychopharmacology Research. She is a Full Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology/Toxicology and the Vice Chair, Basic and Clinical Research in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Lanctôt is an active researcher in clinical pharmacology with over 350 publications. She is listed on Expertscape as among the top 0.05% of Alzheimer’s researchers in the world. Her group’s research has focused on discovering and testing treatments for cognition and neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with dementia and in pre-dementia states. In addition to running randomized controlled trials, her group uses biomarkers, pharmacologic challenge and neuroimaging to further understand these symptoms and target pharmacotherapy. This webinar is presented in partnership with the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance. Webinar will be held using Zoom, registration is required to receive the link to participate.
