Safety Awareness Month - Fire Safety for Seniors/Older Adults (ONLINE) |
Toronto Fire Services is once again engaging our neighbourhoods and communities in a special effort this JUNE. June is Safety Awareness Month (SAM) and we will be focusing on SENIOR FIRE SAFETY! Seniors remain the fastest growing segment of the population and we want to engage this community to convey messaging and awareness about home fire safety for Seniors! Information about smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, kitchen fire safety, careless smoking, use of candles, emergency planning, and general fire prevention will be available. Whether you live in a bungalow or a high-rise, there is information everyone needs to know to keep safe from fire! Guest Speaker: Andrew McCaw is a Fire Prevention Officer/Public Educator with Toronto Fire Services. He has been educating the citizens of Toronto on their rights and responsibility in regards to fire safety for 7 years. Public education is the first line of defense when it comes to safety and by educating residents on how to be safe, and plan for their own needs, we can prevent emergencies from ever happening in the first place. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
