In this series of online sessions we will focus on female artists whose work uses the language of abstraction. Through slow and careful observation we will transport ourselves into the chromatic realms created by Lee Krasner, Carmen Herrera, Irene Rice Pereira and Alma Thomas to explore, connect and engage with their suggestive compositions.

Join us with your curiosity and come ready to share thoughts and ideas. The series will open with Lee Krasner (1908-1984, New York), a leading figure among abstract artists who channeled her intellect and heritage into vigorous paintings, drawings and prints full of expressive gestures and color.

Jano Cortijo is a gay, immigrant, bilingual arts educator whose work finds him engaging audiences of various ages, abilities, and backgrounds in museums, classrooms, community centers, or computer screens. Jano encourages critical discussion while connecting the participants’ individual histories and stories with the art and art makers.

This program is appropriate for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their carepartners. A Zoom link will be provided to you in an email once you have registered for this program.
