Webinar: Advances in Dementia Research Exploring light therapy as a treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment Summary: Presented by Dr. Neda Rashidi-Ranjbar, this webinar reviews a study that investigates a form of non-invasive light therapy called photobiomodulation as a treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI); an early stage of Alzheimer’s disease. This webinar will also discuss how photobiomodulation affects mitochondria - the powerhouse of human cells- that is also affected in dementia. You will have the opportunity to ask questions.
About the Speaker Dr. Rashidi-Ranjbar is a clinician-scientist with experience in clinical and cognitive neuroscience. She completed her Medical Doctorate at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. She holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Trento University, Italy. Dr. Rashidi-Ranjbar also completed her PhD at the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto, Canada. As a doctoral researcher, Dr. Rashidi-Ranjbar studied alterations of brain networks in people living with Alzheimer’s disease and in those at risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Through her work, Dr. Rashidi-Ranjbar has gained strong experience in multi-modal neuroimaging studies and clinical trials in neurologic, psychiatric, and healthy populations. This webinar is presented in partnership with the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance. Webinar will be held using Zoom, registration is required to receive the link to participate.
