Building on the Dementia Care Concepts Introduced in DCTP

PROGRAM PRE-REQUISITE:

• Completion of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto 12-hour Dementia Care Training Program (DCTP) or completion of U-FIRST 6-HOUR training
• Must have previous experience working with someone with demenita

Description:

• BSTP builds on the person-centered dementia care concepts introduced in the DCTP courses 

Objectives:

• Acknowledge, understand and focus on supporting clients while addressing responsive behaviours
• Emphasize and demonstrate communication approaches
• Prioritize decision-making processes when managing behaviours
• Highlight importance of teamwork
• Develop a problem-solving strategy around responsive behaviours
