The Joys of Large Scale Mark Making with Monica
Thursdays, November 7th - December 12th 2024 from 1:30 P.M - 3:00 P.M at Coxwell Public Library located at 1675 Danforth Ave (6 week Series).
November 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, December 5th & 12th 2024.
Join us in this art series with Monica, where we will explore techniques in large-scale mark making, creative collaboration and colour fun, with a variety of mediums.
We will be contributing to the production of our theatrical performance in February 2025, by creating a large-scale backdrop artwork that will be part of the stage presence. This series will be facilitated by Monica Wickeler, a trained visual artist who has worked in the large-scaled painting industry in Toronto for more than ten years, in outdoor advertising, as a mural artist and in the Film and Television Industry as a scenic painter. More recently she can be found reclaiming community spaces with her vibrant public art, facilitating community murals, creating public installations and revitalizing undervalued urban spaces with her vibrant public art. As an LGBTQ2S+ public artist, she believes that the most important aspect of her process is working with the local community to bring vibrant public artwork that ties the community together, building strength and pride. This series is appropriate for people living with mild to moderate dementia or cognitive impairments and their carepartners, no background in art making required, all are welcome.
