|
Biweekly on WEDNESDAYS: Feb 7, 21, March 13, and 27 (4 weeks) from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.
Join the Garden Wellness Cafe to keep growing through winter! Join certified forest therapy guide and horticultural therapy practitioner, Emma Rooney, to learn tips for staying healthy and connected to nature all year long. From the comfort of your home, you'll have a chance to meet others in a fun and supportive environment and be transported to beautiful outdoor settings through photos, art, and poetry.
Our winter 2024 series will look at relaxing patterns in nature, starting with blooming spirals in time for Valentine’s Day. Next, learn about Snowflake Bentley, the American meteorologist and photographer, who was the first known person to take detailed photographs of snowflakes. In March, we’ll roll out the leprechaun’s carpet as we uncover moss and lichen. Our final series session will take us up close and personal with seeds as celebrate the start of spring. Each session starts by awakening our senses through some gentle seated movements to get our bodies warmed up. We’ll also engage in a group chat and demonstrate a hands-on creative activity that you can try from home. This program will be held on Zoom. Participants will be mailed program materials and expected to collect some simple supplies on their own (instructions provided). Garden Wellness Cafe is intended for people living with early to mid-stages of dementia, young onset dementia and mild cognitive impairment. Caregivers are invited to attend alongside a person living with dementia or to join us to get ideas for sharing nature-based exploration with the person they are supporting. Date:
